Sortu expresses its solidarity with over 200 Palestinian prisoners who are currently on hunger strike over Israel's continued use of administration detention.

Many of the prisoners have been on hunger strike for over two months and 40 are now in a critical phase and in hospital. There are news of one hunger strike having a heart attack. We call on to support their demand of an end to administration detention.

The use of administration detention systematically is a form of collective punishment, with some Administrative detainees having been incarcerated for over 5 years, and it is contrary to International Law. It violates the Fourth Geneva Convention not being used just in "emergency situations" or "exceptional circumstances". Administrative detention must end.

We express our solidarity with Palestinian Prisoners and call on Israel to end its systematic use of administrative detention and to put in place negotiations which could facilitate the ending of this hunger strike.

Sortu once again stresses the need for a dialogued solution to the Palestine -Israel conflict. A negotiation process that will bring a just and lasting peace to the region.
