81eko otsailaren 13an hil zen Joxe Arregi Madrileko DGSn jasandako torturen ondorioz. Beste askorekin egin zuten bezala, poliziek modu basatian torturatu zuten heriotzaraino.
Gaur 34 urte beranduago beharrezkoa da jarraitzea gogoratzen tortura Estatuaren tresna gisa erabili izan dela eta horrela agertu da berriro ere Gasteizko gobernutik egiten ari den ikerketaren baitan; 3500 kasutik gora izan dira baieztatuak eta hori ikerketan egindako lehenengo errondan ateratako datuak baino ez dira.

- All the decisions that are being adopted in the Bateragune summary, from the first to this last one, are legally inexplicable, they cut the fundamental rights that belong to those convicted and they are only understood from the political impulse fostered by the enemies of peace who are those that design and execute each one of the steps that are being taken in this case.
