Sortu sends a solidarity message to the Kurdish people and specially to the people of Rojava which are suffering the criminal attack of the forces of ISIS.
After the creation of the self-ruled administration few months ago the situation in Rojava has evolved towards a general militar offensive of ISIS. This group has committed continiuos masacres against people of the region and on the 8th of July there are clear evidences that chemical weapons have been used. This allegations have to be investigated and reported by international institutions and Human Right organisations.
We dennounce all attacks carried out by ISIS and call international actors to stop the activites of this group assuring the respect of the rights of the Kurdish people. In that sense, Turkish authorities should stop any kind of support to ISIS and should engage in a democratic process which would bring a peaceful situation to the Middle East.
Sortu wellcomes the call of Mr Abdulah Ochalan to build a National Conference of the Kurdish People to be attended by all Kurdish representatives coming from the Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Sirian states. The historical political situation in Kurdistan and the serious threats coming from several parties should help a common agenda for a democratic framework in the region.
In our understanding, even with the situation of the Kurdish people being very complicated, the latest
movements inside of Iraq, Iran and above all in Turkey and Syria promote political changes that will surely be
positive for the Kurdish people.
The popular Kurdish struggle has been able to create this dynamic of political changes and through this
struggle they will achieve the full rights of the Kurdish people.
Sortu encourages the Kurdish people to continue the struggle for peace and democracy and calls upon international solidarity with West Kurdistan.
