SORTU appreciates very much the huge work Father Alex Reid C. Ss. R. did in favor of peace, justice and reconciliation in Ireland. We also want to highlight that he offered his expertise in the Irish peace process to help bringing a peace scenario in the Basque Country.

We can undoubtedly say that the new political situation here as regard to the peace and normalization process has a lot to thank to Alex Reid and those that stood and still stand in favor of dialogue, peace and justice in the Basque Country.

We extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to his family, friends and those who got to know him as a peace maker in the various roles and ministries he held.

We will specially remember Father Reid for the role he played in the Irish peace process and the role he played in favor of dialogue and peace in the Basque country.

SORTU wants to announce that Senator Urko Aiartza Azurtza, member of the Basque coalition Amaiur, will attend on behalf of SORTU the Funeral Mass to be hold on Wednesday 27th at 12 noon in Clonard Church, BELFAST.
