SORTU welcomes first round of three-day talks between Ethiopian officials and representatives from Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), in Kenyan capital of Nairobi coordinated by the Governor of Garissa County HE Ali Bunow Korane.

The ONLF delegation is led by Foreign Secretary Abdirahman Mahdi. Ethiopian delegation, includes the president of the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia, Abdi Mohamud Omar. After the collapse of the previous round of talks this is a great opportunity for the resolution of the long going self determination demand of the Ogaden people. The national rights of Ogaden people must be respected.

SORTU believes that dialogue and negotiation is the only way to solve disputes, welcomes both sides commitment and calls on international community to support this opportunity for peace in the region.

SORTU welcomes also the peace efforts of Kenyan government and specially of Garisa Governor HE Ali Bunow Korane.
