Ahmad Sa'adat, Palestinian leader, parliamentarian and General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, has been held in Israeli jails since March 15, 2006. Before that time, he was held in Palestinian Authority jails, under US and British guard, since January 2002.

SORTU wellcomes the news about re-opening of talks among the Ethiopian government and the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), confirmed by Abdirahman Mahdi, founder and spokesman of ONLF.

The talks could bring an end to a decades-long conflict that has left a large region desperately in need of development, devastated and marginalized.

SORTU denounces the arrest of Musa Dube, Communist Party of Swaziland Deputy General by Swazi special units and demands his immediate release.

On the 14th of September the Swazi police special unit, Lukhozi, arrested Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) Deputy General Secretary Musa Dube while he was campaigning for a boycott of the so called "elections" that are going to be held by the "Mswati" regime on the 20th of September.
