Sortu wishes to convey its warmest greetings to Ogaden National Liberation Front or ONLF on its 30th anniversary.
Founded in August 15, 1984, ONLF has been campaigning to realize the ambitions of the Ogaden people for freedom. The Ogaden people still suffer the betrayal of Italian-British colonial rule after British handed Ogaden over Ethiopia in 1954 without their consent or treaty.
The solution to the Ethiopia-Ogaden conflict pas just through a comprehensive dialogue among the main actors. A dialogue and negotiation that will address the key issue of the conflict, the right of the Ogaden people to self determination. We are sure ONLF's door is open and ready to sit with Ethiopian government to resume the peace-talks in order to achieve peace, justice and stability in the Horn of Africa. That is why we call again upon the international Community and key stakeholders of the region to do their best to move the conflict toward process of dialogue and negotiation to bring a just and lasting peace o the area.

Sortu wishes to express its condolences at the death of Albert Reynolds, former Prime Minister of Ireland.
Reynolds was one of the key actors in the the peace process in the north of Ireland. He was one of the endorsers of the Declaration of Downing Street, which guarantees the right to self-determination to the Irish people.

Last Tuesday 22nd July, an Israeli air-strike on Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, killed at least four Palestinians, including a member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Zakaria Abu Daqa.
Sortu is deeply outraged by this assassination and the attacks on the Palestinian population, the State of Israel is employing all the might of modern warfare against one of the most densely populated zones of the planet, even targeting UN premises on the ground.
SORTU calls for an end of the attacks and joins the Palestinian call for the international community to give effective protection to the population of Gaza and the West Bank.

Sortu sends a solidarity message to the Kurdish people and specially to the people of Rojava which are suffering the criminal attack of the forces of ISIS.
After the creation of the self-ruled administration few months ago the situation in Rojava has evolved towards a general militar offensive of ISIS. This group has committed continiuos masacres against people of the region and on the 8th of July there are clear evidences that chemical weapons have been used. This allegations have to be investigated and reported by international institutions and Human Right organisations.
